Connected House, Highgate

Replanning and full refurbishment of a four-storey, 1960’s terraced house in the Highgate Conservation Area, located within a short walk to Highgate Village Centre. The project set out to reconnect the existing dispersed bedrooms and living spaces to suit a young, growing family.

As part of the proposed works, the existing kitchen was relocated to the lower ground floor to help integrate the under-utilised rear garden to the core family space. A key move was the introduction of a front light-well that provided an abundance of natural light to the kitchen, while also encouraging cross-ventilation to help cool the lower ground floor in the peak of summer.

Neil Kahawatte Architects provided a comprehensive service from concept design, achieving planning permission, producing a detailed set of construction information, assisting the clients to select a contractor and project managing the job throughout construction. Interior design work involved working alongside the client to design and specify, finishes and fittings, kitchen, utility and pantry spaces, bathrooms and fitted joinery throughout.
