Lantern House, Surbiton

A large rear extension, connecting the two sides of a double-fronted Victorian house, and providing new kitchen, dining, play and living areas.

The scheme was designed around two roof lanterns, which draw light into the extensive volume of the house and create a generous sense of height and space. A central axis draws you through the house to the extension and the garden beyond.

Custom full height joinery was used to articulate different zones within the space, while maintaining a sense of connection.
