Sustainable Design

Environmentally sustainable design is key to the ethos and processes of the practice. We have a duty to protect the environment and so strive to achieve the best possible sustainability standards for your home. By adopting a sustainable mindset from the outset of a project and keeping it in clear focus from concept to completion, this duty can bring with it great opportunities for improved efficiency, cost savings, comfort and wellbeing.

The practice has good experience of designing for high thermal performance, working with renewable heating and cooling, and specifying sustainable materials and construction. Sustainability is also achieved by designing for build quality, longevity, adaptability and reuse.

The practice also has specialist expertise in the ‘fabric first’ approach to construction; Neil has completed the Passive House Institute’s accreditation and is a Certified Passive House Designer. Whether or not this particular standard is right for your project, the knowledge and experience that it brings will help us to identify the right approach for your project.
